    I could see that happening.
I first heard of Bitcoin on Steve Gibson’s podcast Security Now in Feb 2011. He built his own miner and collected 50 coins in just a few days worth about $150 at the time.
He stored his wallet on a hard drive that he subsequently formatted six or seven years later. When it hit $20,000 a coin, worth $1 million, he went looking for the hard drive and realized what he did.

If half of all the Bitcoins that appeared out of thin air disappear, doesn't that make the half of the Bitcoins that haven't disappeared worth twice as much? (asking for a friend)
