What’s the actual difference between a X15 economy and performance.......

    Asking for a friend........

The efficiency is 450 and maybe a hair above. The performance is more for heavy haul and special applications. It’s the same engine from what I understand just for different applications. The performance may be a bit more when it comes to warranty. Sorta linehaul vs heavy haul.

So you can’t get a 585 efficiency or a 450 performance ...? It like efficiency to 450 and above 450 is performance only .....sounds like marketing speak.

    I’ll tell my friend ...:-/

The combination of low torque and low RPM's is going to effect driveability in any kind of terrain with weight. With 3.25's, we're at 1400 at 70 mph. With a lower ratio, you would go into Oregon at 65, just under 1200, and the tranny will start shifting every 30 seconds trying to maintain speed on any kind of significant up hill. With a manual, the driver will end up dropping a gear and running in 12th. Neither are desirable. You can get away with the downspeeding on flat terrain just fine, but throw some up and downs at it, and driveability takes a hit.

The efficiency series has 18:1 compression and had a tendency to lift the head leading people to talk bad about the X15 early on.
Performance series has 16:1 compression ratio and has had less comebacks than the N14

    The power curve is different.
I don't know exactly what is different but cam specs and cam timing could be different.
The theory is more torque at lower engine RPM, then gear it numerically lower, for less total RPM per mile.
Saves fuel and and less wear.

I imagine there’s quite a price difference between a 450 efficiency and a lowest hp performance...?
