I guess they must have promised a lot of hours for it to be worth taking $4/hr less. Hopefully it works out.

I wouldn’t worry too much about anecdotal experiences, you can have bad that anywhere with any company. It all comes down to local management.

No promises of hours. Just from talking-to drivers they get more hours. Plus it's overtime after 8. And in a few years I'll be making what I would of at fedex. Idk just felt like it was the better decision. Plus I would like to do linehaual eventually. Fedex was smaller so I assumed it would take a helluva lot longer to get anything set in stone there.

$4 is a hell of a pay cut though. I’d go back to flatbed and lowboy work before I’d take that doing this job.

What HKW described is bad enough.

Addjng to that running different equipment every day is more of adding insult to injury than I could take.

As others have said, a lot depends on how your barn is run. I’ve been at XPO for three years now, small terminal, good management. It’s definitely not perfect, but most of my complaints are the same ones I see posted here in the LTL section by drivers from any and all LTL companies. Give it a shot, see how you like it, good luck!

You should be fine, I was with XPO for 5yrs. They will work you, Noticed you mentioned linehaul in the future. Most of XPOs linehaul involves going to a FAC (Freight Allocation Control) terminal and working the dock. They have very few meet and turns and no lay downs that I am aware of.
Depending on how far you FAC is from your home terminal you could easily put in 12-14hrs a day working nights, both driving and dock time.
The money can be great, but you earn it everyday.

ABF Freight, It is Union; They run two separate boards. A City Board and a Road (linehaul) Board. The road driver’s do not work P&D or the dock, They are strictly driver’s and move freight between service center’s.
