My signal is when you start complaining.
When you don't complain that indicates that things are good.
@Scooter Jones is buying a paddle board so I cannot pay attention what he says about rates any more.;)

I said "I might" have to! LOL

Besides, I'm not complaining. Another 11k in "free" money will tide me over nicely until April, if needed. If worse comes to worse, I can always go to work for @Midwest Trucker :D

    Midwest Trucker Thanks this.

Things are funny. As I finished my previous post. Uber Freight cancelled my Monday load...and I thought it was cheap enough.

However, I see better rates from Columbus OH to CT already so maybe that was about somethi ng else. Actually, I am glad they cancelled as I already see a potential for a better load mosaic for the next week. Feel relieved actually. I am glad that they did it now, not on Monday though.
I promised myself that I would use Uber for backhaul loads only to avoid potential aggravations, or verifiable info loads... so it seems that I should stick to that resolution.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, it's being reported that a lot of us will be receiving another $2,000 worth of stimulus elixir soon enough. Let the good times roll! The electorate got rid of you know who, and that's all that matters!

I received this email from the State today. I guess since I'm the employer of myself, I am required to inform myself that I might be leaving money on the table. I'm gonna print out the poster from the bureau of labor and tape it to my refrigerator door!

So when people talk about rates it is a valuable piece of intelligence. For my peace of mind, I take easy freight from mega brokers most of the time, backrow seats is where I feel comfortable and and realize that guys like @Scooter Jones, @DUNE-T, @rollin coal, @Midwest Trucker and regretfully not present lately @boywonder007 don't mind getting better rates from less recognized brokers thus getting better results at what I would describe for myself as a higher discomfort level. So when they start showing some signs of being satisfied or discontent then it is a sign of a different dynamic. They may not show it in numbers but one has to read between the lines. So ... dear novice load board reliant owner operator. Just follow these guys and read what the say and you'll find a clue.

I have to tell you that I must move up from the backrow seats for a change because there's only a few brokers that I took freight from last year and it feels a little limiting now when I look at it.
XPO, UBER FREIGHT, CONVOY, CH ROBINSON, JB HUNT, SCHNEIDER, SWIFT-KNIGHT, COYOTE.
that's it. No more no less.... I was still able to earn more than what I needed but is it the back row seat view indeed? Do you really think I could have gotten better results, If I had reached out to a different poll of brokers.

Sometimes, my relationship to this thread and others about rates and how good or bad things are is like that David Bowie song " Space Oddity"
"Ground Control to Major Tom" when I am the Ground Control calling Major Tom and asking what's it like out there in the space out of the capsule....
And then says back to me
"This is Major Tom to Ground Control
    I'm stepping through the door
And I'm floating in a most peculiar way
And the stars look very different today..."

I have nothing to report on rates personally, because I'm taking an extended period of time off. I keep a cursory eye on my lane from time to time and have received email offers from brokers I've done business with, however, have let them know I'm on vacation.

Stocks Stall as Biden Stimulus Plan Fails to Cheer Investors

"Friday’s economic data didn’t provide much relief for investors concerned about the economic impact of this winter’s surge in Covid-19 cases. Retail sales data came in worse than expected for December, while the Empire Manufacturing Index posted an unexpected decline.

“The [economic] data is going to be weak for the next two months,” wrote Dennis DeBusschere, strategist at Evercore ISI, in a Friday note. “Seems like [investors’] nervous energy is finally translating into broad based selling.”

"The incoming U.S. president announced a $1.9 trillion strategy for sweeping coronavirus relief, including plans to send direct payments to Americans of $1,400, on top of the $600 that is currently being paid out. The proposal would also provide $20 billion for a national vaccination program, lift the minimum wage to $15 an hour, and extend moratoriums on evictions.

But market reaction has so far been less-than-enthusiastic. “The overall size of the package was slightly less than the rumored $2 trillion and the wide scope of the proposal implies that getting it through the Senate will be a herculean task,” said Marios Hadjikyriacos, investment analyst at XM, to clients in a note.

Biden added that next month he will roll out a second broader economic recovery plan at a joint session of Congress, which may also be jarring investors.

That plan will lay out infrastructure spending and plans to attack climate change. It seems it will also lay out tax raising plans which is catching the market off guard a little this morning,” said a team of strategists at Deutsche Bank led by Jim Reid, in a note to clients."
