My drivers are supposed to check fuel before leaving, and ask for my credit card if they need fueling.

If I had a driver with that sort of attitude, I would frankly get another driver.

You need to be the Card bearer in order to get that re print. Should have paid him back with a check for "Tax purposes" and for further investigation. Need to be tight with this driver for further inquiries.

The outcome is people run companies and hire drivers to operate equipment worth tens of thousands of dollars hauling goods worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, but don't trust them with $300 in fuel.

There's no other industry where employees are regularly expected to pay, in either money or time, for the ineptness or apathy of employers, middlemen, and customers.

I frickin' hate the trucking industry...

What prompted my question was not mistrust, but the fact that he could not possibly spend $300 on fuel, because fuel is under $3 and the tank takes less than 100 gallons. Do the math!

I read your explanation before commenting. Sounds typical of a dispatcher/owner who thinks they know everything a driver does just by "doing the math".

You sure have a strange definition of "mistrust" if you trust your "math" over your driver's word.

This thread is the exact reason you don’t air your company laundry in public.

There are a lot of know it alls and conclusion jumpers in this world.

I definitely trust my math over "drivers" and especially politicians!
