Its a sad thing, air dryer froze up after replacement.

A cartridge is $55 for a generic. I have a spare in the truck.

Depends on what model air dryer your truck uses to determine if they are cheap or not.
I know it certainly wouldn’t be cost effective to replace mine every year.

The picture I posted is of the one I bought for my Freightliner Columbia last year.
This type is the intergraded type that comes with the air governor on.
They are very expensive and I would hate to have to buy one every year.

 

Crack open all air tanks to slowly sweat out air.
You want your tanks to drain air or they'll build up with water from a hot air compressor going to a cold air tank.

Warning: the DOT will not understand this because it wasn't in the book

 

If the air dryer is working properly there won’t be any water in the air tanks.

 

Right but it will not work 100% all the time. Tanks will get water in them

 

Mine never have.
