Anybody know how much military equipment pays mile wise ?

Completely depends on that particular move. I've seen it pay $1.35 and then the same load pays $3.25 next time. I've seen legal loads pay $2.50 while oversize paid $1.85. Im not sure there is ever a rhyme or reason to it.

 

Military freight is mostly just more freight in most cases it doesn’t pay any better then other freight,It seems some are under the impression it pays good only the specialized pays alright such as oversized but other oversized pays good to.

 

My limited experience hauling military equipment is a mixed bag. Some of it pays good. But the hassle and wiat times to get into some of the larger bases is not worth any amount of money in my humble opinion

 

Ive always had good dealing with military freight, never done anything cheap. Ive got 2 next week matter of fact...

 

I move a lot of it in to the greater DC area, dry van. It pays just a little bit better than regular load board freight in my experience, I'd say maybe 10% better.

I like it because the brokers who fool with it usually do a lot of it and they are organized, so no botched appointments or long waits....so far.

Make good and sure you're working with someone who understands how the appointments work for that particular base, make sure you're cool with having your truck crawled over by security and drug dogs, and make sure you can pass a background check. You'll do one for every base and many have different requirements.

 

I will say this, after thinking about it. I was a lil upset at myself early last year when I booked a military load(it was a unit move) and when I get the CBL its a few thousand more than what I agreed to with broker.....

 

Yeah, that's what I don't get about so many people wanting to know what the broker makes. You live and you learn, it's the only way to make money at this. Now you know if you move that again negotiate more.

I do not at all want to know what a broker makes on a load, as long as I'm happy with my rate.

I also don't want to know what awful markup is happening with most of the stuff I buy or what the bank is making off of me, etc. It would just make me mad. As long as I'm not at the bottom or the top of the food chain I'm happy.
