Raiders owner Mark Davis agrees to purchase Las Vegas Aces

Las Vegas Raiders owner Mark Davis has entered an agreement to purchase the Las Vegas Aces of the WNBA from MGM Resorts, the team announced Thursday.

"I will have more to say once I receive official approval from the WNBA Board of Governors and have had a chance to speak with the players, coaches and administrators of the team," Davis said in a statement released by the Aces.

MGM Resorts purchased the then-San Antonio Stars and relocated the team to Las Vegas ahead of the 2018 WNBA season.

The team has played three seasons at the Mandalay Bay Events Center since then, making the playoffs the last two seasons and losing to Seattle in the 2020 WNBA Finals.

"Mark is a longtime champion of women’s basketball and we believe he is the right person to lead the Aces into a new era," George Kliavkoff, president of entertainment and sports for MGM, said in a statement. "We will continue our enthusiastic support of the WNBA, NBA and basketball in Las Vegas."
