Just for comparison, 5k here. That's not really overhead though, that's what we put in the bank every month before we start saving/spending. We could easily knock it down to 4 I think. Family of 4, solid middle class in TN.
I'm not sure how we got here from sleep Apnea but there ya go.bigguns Thanks this. -
My home is paid for so overhead is about $1,200 a month.

It might depend upon what all someone includes in overhead. Someone else might not think about a key number. Me. I’d forget my head if it weren’t attached somedays

I have severe sleep apnea and have used the bipap since 2017. I don't think I sleep any better but I'm up after 7 to 7 hrs sleep and am wide awake all day and don't feel tired all of the time anymore. If anyone even thinks they have it they should talk to their PCP about it.
That being said the FMCSA has been trying to make an end run around the Congressional mandate by issuing "Guidance" to the examiners that gives the examiners the impression that they better get with the program. I would encourage any driver that is being forced into a sleep study do find another examiner. You have to give the exact same info to the 2nd doc as you did the first for it not to be doctor shopping.
OOIDA tried doing a Review the Doc thing but there just aren't enough people giving reviews. Some of the docs may not even be active anymore. But still is worth checking out.

There is a sleezebag (or was) that gave DOTs at the Pilot in Lavergne, TN. Chiropractor also. He failed me on the eye test, the hearing test and BP. Kept my $90. I went to a REAL doctor in Dickson, TN and passed the eye test without glasses, but failed the hearing test. Fortunately, they had an audiologist in the same building and I took the audiometric test and passed with no hearing aids. The rest of the test was easy, and my BP was 122/70. Careful who you go to.

They need to focus on State Troopers and DOT Officers.Using their own odds, at least 1 in 4 has sleep apnea. Definitely a public safety issue.
