You o/o's that are leased on to a carrier what is the minimum per mile you will run? Do you average for the week, the load?etc, etc. I'm talking numbers after they take their cut. A friend and I where talking this same subject.

Depends on what trailer you pull.
    Your percentage.
Example$1000x65%=650 your part, now was there FSC in there, hopefully not included in the 1000$ that’ll be around $230.
Let’s say your using their trailer.
So that will be $830/load minus about $250 for the fuel on a load paying around $1000, leaving $580 for that trip.
You should be able to do one of those per day. leaving around $2900 after fuel for 5 days.
Now minus truck payment per week, around $280, insurance pretty close to same, say $275, then driver salary around $800, truck should make $1545 that week, as long as someone don’t ruin a tire, and everything goes right.

Can run the same scenario x different percentages.

Some are 75% Company freight, 86 % broker freight loads.

I'm very aware of the numbers and how it works. But no one has answered the question. What will you run per mile. Will you run a 1000 miles for $1500.00. This is just an example.

I know what I will run for. Look at a load board, that will give you an idea what some will run for.

After they take their cut and also after you pay all of the fees like trailer rental, tolls, ELD, insurance defection, etc? Every place is a little different.

Depends on what your operating costs are for your business. I know the low end I'll run but try to avoid those areas that have cheap freight (for flatbed, that would be the Northeast, Florida, Arizona and New Mexico to name a few). My goal is to generate $5000 per week to the truck. Our load board shows us our the revenue with FSC included, rate per mile, and rate per mile with deadhead. If you know your numbers you can make an informed decision. If you know the freight lanes, you can make a better informed decision.

I can tell you, as an O/O 100% independent I make about 20,000 -25000 per month I run about 6-7,000 miles per month. if this is not a good number for you, then continue driving under someone's authority. plus I get to go anywhere I want and I don't have to respond to anyone ....freedom!!! try it and stop making money to Megas

Don’t focus on rate per mile, focus on daily revenue.
1.5 to 2k gross revenue is what I look for per day.. Anything under 1k per day makes me sour :)

yep, that is absolutely right!!! at least , at least!!! 1,500 dollars per day. As reefer hauler I can't move haul any load for less than 4.dollar per mile , I can't !!
salt lake -phoenix minimum $2800 for about 700 miles . I refuse to haul it for less money.
fuel is expensive , insurance , tires , repairs....your time is priceless. seriously, some people don't get it.

    Vampire and blacklabel Thank this.
