Ever notice, those recovery vehicles are always brand new? I have a friend in the recovery biz, and I rode a long a couple of times, I could see it wasn't for me. The red blotches made me uneasy,,,

I only seen 2 heavy wreckers that were fairly new in that video. The first close up Olson? Orange and black NRC 45 ton. Thats a 20-30 yearold wrecker body. You can not imagine the operation expense of them. Plus living in the rust belt every 10-15 years your doing a complete rebuild of the body. Cutting complete sides out to replace, every hydrolic line, wear pads is every moving piece, cylinders, and valve bodies. Let alone truck chassis. Nothing wrong with old equipment. Just most companies purchase new to avoid this aging process.

How much is insurance on a big wrecker? Do you guys ever get claims for damage caused by the recovery?

Well I been out of it for 8 years now. But company I worked for carried 5 mill on anything we touched. Unless it is due to gross negligence. Your not responsible till its restored to the roadway. Yet you will have a few bull sheet claims a year.

    mjd4277 and REO6205 Thank this.
