One of the best ways to find out who someone really is, is to do business with them. Friends are supposed to be friends through and through, even in business. I hired my best friend, and it worked out great for the both of us.

I've seen a lot of Friendships destroyed by doing business together..

 

Hiring a friend and trying to go into buisness with them are two very different things.

 

Were they ever really friends? A lot of my family does business together and succeeds together. Same can be said of true friends. Some have failed, but move on and on goes life. The scum is weeded out rather quickly and rightfully so. Traditions, honor, loyalty and commitment to not only one another, but the future of both families (your family, friends family, etc.) have a lot to do with the success of a business. There are countless family (or friend) run businesses that have withstood the test of time.

How can a friend claim they are a friend when they are stealing from the company? They never were your friend as that ill intention or move against you was always there in their mind. How can a friend or family member who agreed to equal terms and a solid foundation of which the business is built upon, all the sudden abandon the very principals that make a business strong and succeed be considered a friend or family? They can't.

In life, I choose to be involved in dealings with anyone I should consider a true friend, or family member. One, I like seeing individuals succeed, 2) I love learning 3) I love new opportunities as the possibilities are endless and 4) Strong bonds between family and friends are priceless.

They are worth far more than lying to one's self including the fraudulent friend that will surround you with lies, bullsheisser and abandon you when that bullsheisser hits the fan, all while trying to convince you how they are this ride or die person. I like finding out who you are right away, rather than wait years only to be either disappointed or screwed over. Business, even minor dealings to include home repair or what have you, help reveal who a person is.

Only takes that one punch to the wallet to ruin a good friendship. I won't go into buisness with friends or family simply from the too many chiefs and not enough warriors philosophy, if you know what I mean. I also wouldn't suggest loaning them any money you can't afford to never see again, just my personal experience and about 45k dollars down the drain.
