I drove one of those on-guard Freightliners that used to slam on the brakes approaching some overpasses. Frustrating to say the least...

It sucks, that a company like Schaeffer hires a guy, who wants to run, then gives him sub par equipment to deal with. Issues like SSB had to deal with should have been handled in about an hour, getting him a truck with no issues, not assigning trucks that are still in the shop, or have worse problems than the one you're turning in. And they wonder why drivers get PO'ed, and move on....

Just the joy of working for another mega carrier. They don’t care either way. If he leaves there will be 5 more wanting his truck next week.

When I did LTL a guy was in a Freightliner loaner. On his was to Indy from St. Louis at night in the snow, the on guard sensed an overpass and starting to do crazy stuff and his set of pups got all out of whack and into the ditch he went. No one believed him they all chalked it up to him falling asleep until they “rolled that beautiful bean footage” off the dash cam. Obviously they wouldn’t let drivers see it, but from what I heard when it started braking it was pretty violent and got worse in a hurry.

I have to admit that I use the Manual mode alot in Virginia and Tennessee. It does make a difference.

I just got placed in a 2021 freightliner when I went on hometime. Tho my alarm is not loud it does go off when passing a off or on ramp, which I guess is due to the line on the side disappearing.

However, the cruise needs some work. It won't shift to 12 gear till I'm at 61 mph so it's constantly changing from 12 to 11 and back with the slightest slow down. Also when cresting a hill it will drop 10 mph till it kicks back on. Watched it drop to 55 mph in neutral till it fired back up. Other than that it runs pretty smooth.

    Lonesome Thanks this.

I've just about broke the shifter stalk fighting with it...it tries to drop from 12th to 10th, I bump it up to 11th, it waits a second, then shifts up to 12th, I bump it down to 11th, it waits a second, then drops to 10th...and so on...I need 3 hands to drive this auto...1 to steer, 1 to fight the shift and jake lever, and one to use the turn signal and also keep hitting the 'go back' button when it blanks my screen out with the bright yellow distance warning bull crap. And the other Freightliner I got out of was the same way. It's almost like it does everything it can to avoid whatever gear I select. It's like a spoiled child being told to do something, and it does everything except what it was told to do. I truly hate Freightliners now, I use to be a big fan of them until I drove these pieces of crap...now I wouldn't give you scrap price if you wanted to sell me one.
