LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -- COVID-19 has shifted just about every aspect of our day-to-day lives, including how film productions move forward.

Hollywood has slowed down or put halt to various productions while Los Angeles County deals with some of the worst COVID-19 numbers in the nation.
iFOCUS Digital Media Group is a brand new production company in Las Vegas, opening its doors for filmmakers and artists alike to have a place to continue producing content during the pandemic.

iFOCUS said the increase in popularity for Las Vegas as a production hub is continuing to grow due to affordability, proximity to Los Angeles and easier COVID-19 restrictions to navigate through.

Malachi Miles and Quintin Adams both own iFOCUS Digital Media Group and recognize the changes within the industry during the pandemic.

“With the pandemic, it’s shutting a lot of other places down. It’s hard to shut down a place like Sin City," Miles said. "People who can film and produce content can at least do so here in the entertainment capitol of the world. A bigger industry in Las Vegas can lead the path for more work in a city that’s already been hit so hard in other areas.”

“Hollywood is under a lot of constraints, for good reason, but it is effecting a lot of people who work in the film industry in that area," Adams said. "Vegas can now step in and fill the void for productions who otherwise would continue to stay dark without seeking Vegas out as an option.”

More information on iFOCUS and employment opportunities with the new production company can be found online.

I thought Newsom declared them an ESSENTIAL business with no constraint's?
Guess the high taxes were probably the real reason.

another way, and Hollywood's been doing it for decades, is to do the film making on location. we have an old National Guard/Army Reserve Armory in my city, and IT IS set up as a Hollywood studio..... the movies Underdog, Vault, Something about Mary, Me, Myself and Irene, and a few others have been filmed here. Not to mention in another city in my state, Amistad was also filmed here.

when cities, towns, and other states have amenities that can cater to Hollywood, they attract the film makers, and this is great for the local economy. to build sets when many cities (as in mine) have buildings that fit what Hollywood needs, why build a "city" set, when all you need is the neighborhood..??

The workers for the new company that move to Las Vegas from California will love no state income taxes on their wages.

this is one of a few reasons why i'd like to retire to NV myself....take my pension and SS with me, and have no worries.

but that's way off for now.

.....plus, nice weather year round. A light jacket is all that's needed, even on the coldest days.
Many people that were born and raised here, still bundle up pretty good if there's a chill in the air, but those of us that moved here from other parts of the country don't need to do that.

Bought my house here several years before actually moving here. Renters were living in it, so I let them stay. I could make 2 house payments for what 1 months rent was.
