Owner operator/ fleet owner buys dispatcher cars

I had some contact with the guys from Concrete Equities a few years before that whole debacle. I was hired as a technical consultant for a start-up construction materials company and was involved in presentations to secure financing. We met these guys in their office and three things stood out to me.

One was that they were proposing things I knew to be in contravention to the securities act. They also gave me a very general "bad vibe" feeling (honed after many years of financial services experience and dealing with start-up financing projects); slick suits, slick talk, etc... all flash, no substance. The very epitome of slimy.

The third thing that really confirmed for me what dirt-bags we were dealing with was when one of the guys responded to my comment on the Grey Cup ring he was wearing. He bragged about how he took it from the guy for a debt he owed. I recommended, and my partners agreed, that we not do business with them. I wasn't surprised when Concrete Equities blew up years later.

Another miscreant that was part of that group was David Jones of Wealthstreet who did a ton of radio and print advertising. Here's one thing I learned from my years in financial services: NO ONE in that industry is THAT MUCH SMARTER than the next guy. It's a highly-competitive industry that attracts not only the "best and brightest," but also the reprehensible. So, because it attracts the best and brightest, they are all striving to maximize their returns and they all have the same tools available to them. When one person stands out by making claims that no one else is, that's pretty much a guaranteed fraud. Unless you have the knowledge to be 100% assured it isn't, run away! And even if you think you have the knowledge, still run away... think: Bernie Madoff.


ETA: Not even sure they were the worst I dealt with over the years.
A lot of "interesting characters" in that line of work.

Why would you assume the worst? It is very possible this company provides exceptional service and caters to Day and Ross's needs for time, delivery and acceptable rates. You need to work on your service end and customer base instead of bushing others. Get better - get in....
You are just upset that you cannot buy someone off...instead of providing quality service

 

While that may be true, as long as all this greasing palms ######## is going on; who knows the real reason?
