On Monday, the Birmingham Police Department issued new information and a new call for public help in locating a motorist who is believed to have caused a truck driver to fatally plunge off an overpass last October.
On January 25, Birmingham Police asked for public help in finding a motorist involved in an October 6, 2020, crash that killed 59 year old truck driver Charles Eugene Pearce Jr.
The crash occurred around 5 p.m. at at I-59 North/I- 59 South in Birmingham, Alabama.
Police said that the crash occurred when a “white vehicle” struck a silver sedan, causing the sedan to crash into a semi truck. The semi truck struck both the median and a Jeep. Both the Jeep and the semi plummeted off of the overpass about 25 feet onto the roadway below.
Pearce died at the scene.
One other person was taken to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
In Monday’s renewed plea for public help, police said that the white hit and run vehicle is believed to be a Nissan Cube.
Anyone with information is asked to call Birmingham Police Department investigators at (205) 254-6555 or Crime Stoppers (205) 254-7777.

Looks like the white car hit the inside wall then careened into the silver car.

Yeah at the :11 mark of the video it starts showing the crash over again but from a little before the original. At the :13 mark it looks like the white car hits the wall on his right and that causes the white car to careen left across the interstate.

A truck just went over a bridge, two cars are mangled (one rolled), and everyone just drives on by.

That was a bit disheartening to watch. I am thinking about that driver for real. My condolences to him and his family. That's a hell of a way to go.
