Hey veteran truck drivers, I'm still new and trying to balance the otr lifestyle. Before you criticize me for wanting to know how to play games and watch netflix plz understand I drive for 10hrs a day and want to unwind and relax in my own way. Sure I can do more constructive things with my time and I do, I just wanted to learn the most efficient way of being able to entertain myself the way I want. I'm on the tv playing or watching for maybe 30 minutes before the inverter starts beeping. I try not to keep the truck on and idling, but it's hard especially on the 34. I bought a ups battery backup but I'm still testing it out. Any information, tips, tricks or ideas would greatly be appreciated.

If our inverter is beeping after 30 min..

    1. batteries are weak
    2. too much other stuff plugged in
    3. Inverter dying.

Most flat screen TV's don't draw hardly any power, so unless your using a super computer to play minecraft on.. something isn't right

O.k. - you’re driving for a starter company that cares about things like idle time and you don’t want to live like a monk when you’re shut down or have management crush you for using $6 in diesel for your own comfort and/or entertainment?

A battery/UPS solution won’t work very well. Most aren’t designed to be bounced around in a truck and may leak or spill acid in your truck. Your play time will be limited to your battery life and over time play time will shrink as the battery degrades. Your best bet is to get a portable generator, buy your own fuel and chain it to your catwalk while you use it. You will be able to play for hours, not deprive Swift’s CEO of a Gulfstream 6 and not make the floorboards of your truck look like you killed an alien in there. Good luck!

    1. Idle while you play your games.
    2. Get a motel for your 34’s.
    3. Drive 11 hours?

Buy a small Honda generator, they are pretty quite now a days.

Just be mindful of the exhaust fumes, both for you & the drivers parked next to you.
