I just signed up for yet another deal this time hauling trailers for farm use. The owner told me some loads are overhanging but they have routes that do not push the rule as hard. I know flatbeds are always just to the limits and my last place I ran 10-14,000 overweight for several blocks regularly.

I am hoping to find a way to minimize the overhangs. The truck is crazy long for the loads I will haul but it is owners choice. At least it is newer and not a patchwork job. The trailer is a simple 53 foot step deck and 6 trailers tend to overfill the 53 foot length. Some are gooseneck others are pintle hitch. weight wise I will seldom go over 25,000 pounds for the load.

If anyone has photos of theirs or others I would be very grateful to see them. Even a google search came up empty. Seems when I drive in the Spring and Summer every other truck had trailer equipment on it. Now not a single one seen.

Have plenty of chains of diff. lengths, some with 2 hooks on short 6in to 12in chains can be handy, a few flags for over hang will keep you out of trouble?

This is almost exactly what I will be hauling with a few field hay trailers mixed in. Do you have a special net or rack for the extra tires? I know hauling tires has special regs over 5-7 tires in many states. I was going to have the shop make me a pipe I can pin tires with so I can have 4 to 10 tires with a strap loop on each side. Makes it harder to steal them on overnights and less likely to have one or two bouncing out.

Also how often are the loads over the 53 foot, front or back? PM if better.
