I have seen it said here and heard out on the road, that conventional wisdom says not to buy any used truck between the years 2007 and 2012 because they just did not have the emissions systems worked out yet

Can't really comment on your engine.
I can't complain about the rest of the truck. Has been good to me. About the only issue I have had with the truck is the hood hitting the cab in a dip in the road type bump. I believe the correct cab shocks from Kenworth fixed that issue.Tug Toy Thanks this. -
2010 kw most likely the engine would be a 09 model Cummins isx CM871 non def fluid it would be cali legal for a couple more years. Common problems for that engine is egr cooler leaking causing dpf to clog wich in turn destroys the turbo. 2011 is when they started putting isx cm2250 engine wich takes urea fluid making it forever cali compliant. 11 12 13 years had problems with the after treatment and cylinder sleeves. There’s a lot of trucks like the kw your looking at available doesn’t sound like a GREAT deal to me seems average price
