Now if you want to learn the business, once sold, get your cdl and work for a company for a couple years then try again.

 

Look at Truckers U dot com. You can hire one there. Road Dog radio also has a couple of great programs back to back. First about O/O questions in general then about tires.

 

Agreed...Buying a truck with out having ANY Knowledge of the trucking industry is the best way to bankrupt your self...Best way to make a million dollars in trucking is to start with 2 million..Cost will add up Pretty quickly, you will have to pay for insurance, fuel, maint. Tires (drive to your local truck stop and ask them how much a set of 18 tires cost to put on, please be sitting before you get the answer) betting you didn't buy a BRAND NEW TRUCK with all the bells and whistles and HUGE Warranties, so you are going to have to drop a good size junk of change just to get that truck legal and road worthy. What year make and model is the truck? What did it do before you bought it? Was it running the interstates daily or has it been sitting on a lot for a few years? Now you have to have it inspected to make sure EVERYTHING is in working order, and I mean EVERYTHING, have the oil checked (and I don't mean pull the dipstick out and look to see if you need to add any) are all the brakes and calipers intact and properly adjusted, the list goes ON and ON and ON. Not sure what you do for a living or even if you have the money to do ALL of this, If you have that kind of change to sink into a tractor trailer and get your own authority, insurance ( THIS IS USUALLY A BIG ISSUE, Insurance companies don't like to insure people who have NO Experience in the field, also are you providing insurance for your driver) find a driver who you can trust! What kind of freight are you hauling? Flat Bed step Deck, Dry Van, Reefer, Heavy Haul, Lumber, specialty, Over size. Let say for instance you are hauling Reefer and you have a loaded trailer, something happens to the reefer (driver error, mechanical error, load shifts) and your driver gets to the customer and they said yeah we aren't accepting the load, for what ever reason, guess what SOME ONE Has to pay for that, so you are going to need money for that, and a contingency on what to now do with the freight, most shippers aren't going to take it back. What happens if your driver hits a building, rips a door off, knocks a sign over, takes fuel pumps out, rear ends another 18 wheeler or worse yet hits a 4 wheeler and kills someone, guess who is responsible for that???
Not trying to be a Debbie Downer and I AM NOT an OO, just some questions that should have been asked and researched before you bought the truck.

HOWEVER I HOPE YOU CAN PROVE ME WRONG and come back in a few years needing to hire more drivers because the 10-20 trucks are full and you have more freight to haul
