    Wow.
So far this month I have a 5.74 fuel mileage.
Not so close the the required, so I probably won't make that part of the bonus this month.
Not with so many frigid days ahead of us.

I can seldom rely on my bunk heater to stay on more than 15-30 minutes without shutting itself off, so no help there.

Here's a thought for you. They are calling this a safety bonus right? Well, I'm on the load from heck! I got stuck in Iowa for a blizzard, took me 2 days to get across Nebraska. Now, Wyoming winds are not giving me any chance (I'm light with less than 10,000 lbs of cargo). So, I have lost so much time by making the safe choices and parking it when I should. Thereby making it basically impossible to get in 6000 miles this month. So, for making the safe choices, I'll lose my chance to get the safety bonus. Something just doesn't seem right about that does it?

It is called the Driver Performance Program, not the Safety Bonus.

The safety part of the bonus is just one small part of it.
    1 cent to be exact.
There are also the fuel bonus and the productivity bonus parts, not to mention the Platinum and Diamond bonuses.

And you're right, it stinks when being safe may nix much of the bonus money.
Or being down for several days in the shop.

It is something I spoke to my DM about last month when I was down 6 days in the shop and so lost any chance at the productivity bonus.

That is something that didn't happen with the 3 month bonus period because that lost time would be averaged out over a longer time. We had the time to recover from it, for the most part.

    ...

    Sorry for the pause.
I forgot I was supposed to take the driver survey on the QC, so I just did it.
A lower score was given this time, and in the comments I laid out our dissatisfaction with the new bonus program because of the reasons we just mentioned.

I have always given a score of 9, with no comments.
This time it was 7, and I filled every line in the comment section.
Maybe it will get some attention.

Thanks for clarifying the bonus program name. Yea, there are alot of 'details' about this bonus program that put much of it outside the control of the driver. As a reefer jockey in the West, I get heavy loads (poor MPG compared to light loads), many more live loads (uses up time available to drive and makes miles driven quantities targets harder), and I tend to drive in terrain that takes alot more fuel than most roads (up hills, heavy, yea, you are going to burn significantly more fuel per mile). All these make it much less likely I'll be able to qualify for a bonus than say a Dry Van driver in flatter parts of the country.
But, it is what it is at current.

Knight is screwing everyone over. I can guarantee it's only going to get worse.

In my above post I made an error.
It is not 3 months vs. 1 month where the miles are concerned.

In the old program our miles were a rolling 1 YEAR average, not for a 3 month period.
And certainly not for only 1 month. That is the factor that makes getting a consistent productivity bonus very difficult now.

Yes, their bean counters have done a swell job.

    And have you heard?
Our DM's can no longer re-optimize our fuel for us.

Just yesterday I needed it done because I was stuck for a day in Edwardsville, and I had to idle the whole time. There was no way I could make that next fuel stop, even if I had taken that longer route to my destination.
Even emergency fueling is limited now.
