I ran BC Cummins, which return a lot of warm fuel to the draw tank, when the fuel cools off overnight, condensation formed. If it didn't freeze at the bottom and had a bottom draw, the warm fuel from the motor next morning, would melt the ice, and it would freeze down the line. I think stand pipes eliminated much of that, but I tried everything. Those "water dog" thing, alcohol, even a syringe with a long tube to suck it out. l carried an extra fuel filter, or 2, and a gallon jug of fuel. I could always tell when it sucked some water, the idle wouldn't come down.

The Alaska version of that show was filmed primarily in Alaska. Lots of that road is easily recognizeable. We have a great government money give away to attract film companies. Sure, some of that repeated stock footage might have been canned in Washington, but a whole bunch of it (what I've seen) was filmed in AK. The Canandian part I never watched and I could barely stomach that Alaskan part.

Anyhow, in Alaska we start getting blended fuel right around Oct 1st, it will be pure winter grade ULSD by Nov 1st.. that lasts until about April 1st. Our winter grade stuff doesn't really give us any issues until below -40F.

Mag. Based on ND. They use a 50/50 mix of fuel. Covers most all of winter.
I was brought up into the great Polar Vortex of 2019. Came from the south. Had 1/2 tanks of fuel from South. Filled up in Chicago with #2. Put double regular amount of PS in both truck and reefer. That’s following PS directions. Made it through the night ok.
I’ll never forget spending that night in a truck in Chicago. Next night was just as bad in Minnesota. Had the lady collecting money at the exit of the truck stop. She had her window wide open. Saying: We’re making history! All I could think was: Lady, you forgot to take your medication.
Anyway... PS has done me good. Especially since had no problem with the reefer either.
