Hermitage is having crime problems now. I'm from Robertson County, but lived in Goodlettsville for awhile.
Pulled hazmat tankers out of Nashville running 48 states & Canada.

Yep, is appalling how little we make. I’m in charge of 8 lives, a first officer when I have a crew, and a 3 million dollar airplane for 30k a year. Lowest paid in the world for the fleet type we operate by about 25k. It used to be a good place to work until Covid. Then that was used as an excuse to take everything the could.
I’m definitely aware of how what they say I’ll make and how often I’ll be home varies to what actually occurs. That’s why I’m here asking your guys’ wisdom. Aviation isn’t much past “all or nothing” either. One accident or the right violation and you’re done.

I layover in Montgomery quite a bit. There are numerous contract Aircraft Maintenance companies who do work for the military there.

0 on all of the above unfortunately. 1200 hours in a PC-12 though with some mountain experience operating out of DEN into some mountain airports.

i would find a way to cut living expenses and get a part time job to get what you need to move forward in aviation, if its only temporary dont waste your time and energy in trucking.

If you have an A&P Coulson might be good to check with. The A&P will get you into the shop and from there your ratings might get you into flying 3rd officer on a C-130. Get type rated and then you can move up. They're expanding and if you don't mind traveling it might be a good shot.
They like A&Ps on the flight crew because they do a lot of remote work...fires mostly...and doing scheduled inspections on site is a lot easier than flying back to a base somewhere.
Check with Erickson too. They're running all jets now.

I’m currently a commuter airline captain that flies single engine turbo props. To move on in the industry I need a couple more ratings that will cost me in the tens of thousands of dollars. The issue is I’m making in the low 30s and it’s barely enough to pay my bills let alone paying for all the stuff I need to progress. I’ve looked at Roehl (mostly for their training but I’m aware of their reputation), Maverick, Swift Refrigerated and Stevens Transport. My family has adjusted pretty well to me being away from home already as I’ve been flying for almost 2 years now professionally and was an aircraft mechanic for 8 prior to that. My question is, can I reasonably expect to make more than 30k? And is it worth the career change for a couple of years? What does home time really look like? I’ve read all the touted salaries and benefits put out by the carriers Ive looked at, but I’ve been around the block enough to know the difference in what’s real and what isn’t. What do you guys and gals think?

Pay, conditions, home-time vary wildly by company. No research, or internet-only research means bad pay, no time off, ragged trucks.
