And if you think flatbedders don’t go into some funky locations, ask one where he’s been lately.

I've dealt with bad loads and dangerous situations as well as ran off book (before e-log) to get the job done. That was my choice, NOT my job. If my boss ever ordered me to do that stuff he'd be looking for a new driver and he knew it. But we took care of each others back.
It's one thing to be a team player and get things done and another to be a company's #####.
Some of you are coming across like drivers should be grateful to have a job and bend over and take what ever the boss feels like dishing out that day. Having dignity is more important than any paycheck ever will be.

I don't think that it was meant that way, but it's how it's coming across.

I spent 9 hours outside in 26F weather 2 weeks ago and about 5 of those were trying to tarp the load. 3 hours the next day to finish it off. They ended up paying me something like $250 for it. Kind of meh, but I asked for another.

That's flatbed sometimes so keep that in mind about bad loads.

The only problem I've ever seen with destacking or lumper work for drivers is that who trains them? How the hell do you know what your supposed to do? I'm fine leaving it to those who know better, especially since I'm not the one paying.

Reminded me of a day I had in Spokane WA. Just snowed and windy. Had a tall lumber load needed 8ft drop tarps. Blew my tarp off on first attempt. Rolled it up had the loader set it on top started trying to retarp it wind blew it off again. This time loader was gone place was closed. Re rolled it found a spot blocking the wind and cargo boxes where I can walk up the tarp. 8 ft drops aren’t no joke. After I finally get it tarped after 8 hrs head to the truck stop for a nice shower but had to scale it before bed Over weight on my spread axle. Had to go back in the morning to the shipper. One of my longest days in trucking.

You don't see us, because you're sitting at a dock or a warehouse. We get in and out of some gnarly situations. We take long sweeping turns at truck stops, because that's the only time we get to give our trailer a break.

    Tb0n3 Thanks this.
