Air line repairs, is this legal? One longer than the rest, zip tied?

73AEA298-6D94-43F4-9C2A-E77554D569C9.jpeg A driver at the company I work at had a leaky airline. Penske, who the company we work for leases our trucks through, put on a new red line. It was a 15’ line. Much longer than the original. They refused to cut it to shorten it and zip tied it to the grab handle after looping it around a couple times. The driver wanted to know if this is 1)legal and 2) safe.
    It does look ridiculous.....

They are going to buy a new line and install it themselves. But I was curious what y’all thought.
Penske can be real morons sometimes......

I would rather it be looped and tied up at the clamp for the spring.

They poked holes in my fuel filter , Penske 14 mile and Dequinder , Madison Heights Mi.
Penske uses channel locks on fuel filter not once but twice.

I’m not sure it’s illegal but DOT would zone in on it for chafes. Easy pickings. Penske does this crap all the time, I’ve had luck getting them to cut the line and shorten it with a new fitting in the past

company i retired from, had Penske lease trucks as well. the mechanics at the shop, actually always did good work. if it was warranty work however since the trucks were new, they'd send them to the dealership.

otherwise, all other repairs, PM service and other needed things were done on time, and properly.

in this time of the covid crisis, they may have been short staffed. they may have been back logged with work. it is drivable, just have your driver(s) DO A INSPECTION on it, BEFORE they start, and when they FINISH.

Only thing dot would tell him is that the red air line looks pinched near the bottom tie-wrap.
