BTT used to be a great company. 100% O/O. I leased to them out of Cleveland, OH. Lot of local work and if you wanted New Jersey and back. Then it got little worse. Few months ago i asked for a transfer to Phoenix, AZ. I knew they have terminals in LA, San Diego, LV, SLC and PHX. No problem. Everything was set up. I moved my family, flew back, got my truck. The freight down here is little cheaper and slower. That was ok. But then the big blow came. After 3 weeks working for the PHX they told us that BTT is closing its western operation. The next day... no freight. That's it. Nobody cares. Do what you can. So, my input on BTT? Stay away as far as you can. Don't get burned as I and another hundreds of drivers did.

My experience with BTT went as followed. I filled out the online application on a weekend and got a call from TM on Monday morning. Sure was quick I'm thinking, call her back to get some info and etc. I go and get TWIC card and Hazmat, then go for physical and drug test so I can get started. I get a call back from TM saying they are closing my file because applicants are required to have been in random drug testing programs. I have always worked for myself and never done that! I was a little disappointed at first but knowing what it pays I ain't missing much.

BTT used to operate in Denver in conjunction with Maersk/Sealand. When Maersk closed up shop BTT went with them, they were apparently paying pretty good and getting some good miles as the O/O's that were running for them all had clean trucks and well maintained trucks, they were sticklers about it. The guys who ran the Denver ops are now working for other companies and were all pretty bummed and shocked when they closed up and left.

Sorry to hear that. What a bum deal.

Dont they have their terminal here in NJ near Newark? Do you think that it will close as well? How can a company like stay open with a close of major terminals?

When they want drivers, they will take you, provided that you have a resonably clean license, and no criminal past.

Maersk closed up? When? What are they doing now to ship? I will tell you this, I am seeing stacks and stacks of empty containers here in NJ piled up top of one another. Its really a shocker.

I'm with BTT in Philly I my getting one load a day some days no loads. Maersk did not close up. Maersk Loads are up for bid on a load broad Maersk have set up. At one time Btt use to get the load first. Now other companies are biding on them for a cheap rate. That BTT can't do them for. Maersk is charging the customer the same high rate but getting other trucking companies to do the loads so cheap with bad customer service. Here is a exp of one company I know they will bid on a load that we used do for $60 that didn't go 1 mile. They bid on the load on the board $25. When it come time for them to do the load they said they couldn't do it for that price they change it to $55. They put a low bid then any one else. ICC have Maersk. These were timely loads that had to be on the rail that day. Wright now it slow for BTT. I like the company but it hard times now.
