I wanted to take the time out to thank you all of you for all of your help.
And I have taken your advise and got the Heart Healthy cookbook. He now is eating tons of fruit and veggies. And taking healthier meals on the road with him and I checked into the truck Gym $299.
We got results back from doc and his heart is healthy but will have another check up to make sure it stays that way.

This Forum is wonderful thank you all.

  6. What worked for me is the realization that I had to break the cycle of 3 squares a day. after 5 years I was at 300 lbs and a smoker.

I was in the seat for so many hours and not burning the calories I had taken in that it was becoming a huge glob around my middle and spreading.

I backed myself off the big meals, took lunchmeat bread and lots of fruit in my cooler. soon I was eating one meal per day (when I got up) and snacked 2 or 3 times per day on the fruit. Snacking is not 4 or 5 pieces of fruit but an apple or bananna whatever ya like.

I also began using rubber bungies as arm and leg exercises while burning up the hiway. You would be suprised how well it worked.

I dropped 25 lbs in a year which does not sound like much compaired to what the TV ads say those people lost but I did it honest.

I am not 250 lbs and working as a spotter but I still am working on the weight loss and now quitting smoking after 22 years as a pack a day looser. (myself being the looser for smoking not intended as an insult towards anyone else)

Anyone who is starting the long hill towards better health has my support and I am willing to help anyway I can but I will tell you, it does become easier as you go. Good luck and Good Speed

Just a thought, and not sure how practical it would be, but what about the nutirsytem meals you see on TV? If you had a microwave in your truck you could heat them up and have a nutritious meal and I think they say for $10 a day. And they don't need to be refridgerated.

Waste of time.. DIETS DO NOT WORK........... If you want to lose weight WORK OUt.............. That diet is the same as any other, Sure you will see
results at first. But in the long run you will put gaine it all back + some. the only way you will lose and keep weight off is is to trick your body on a regular basis. You have to put in the work.....

There's a fantastic book written by Diana Schwarzbein, M.D. called "The Schwarzbein Principle", this book explains how you should eat and if I was you I would do word for word and you will see immediate results within a month. This book is for: Heal or improve your metabolism, lose excess fat weight, prevent and reverse the degenerative diseases of aging, achieve your ideal body composition, stop chronic dieting, eliminate cravings and addictions and if your diabetic and don't want to be on insulin anymore I suggest you get this book. Put your all into it or you will just be like all the other people who give up and get no where and bad mouth such programs. This book isn't something to follow for a few months, live by it.

I am thankful for the info. I will begin driving by January, hopefully with Crete. I am already trying to eat healthly. When I am at a drop off or when I get a break, I plan to walk at least 30 min a day. I can not stand the thought of dying of something that I can help prevent.

I think eating right makes you more alert and sharp in the mind:biggrin_25525:
