The transmissions don't confuse me, its some of these replys that are kinda blurry lol.. :biggrin_2555:

The Super10 is probably the worst Eaton transmission to have in any situation except for when you're to lazy or can't change gears lol..
I haven't got time to look it up right now, but if you're right then the back box of a Super10 has to have more gears than the front, which would basically be a backwards version of every other transmission..

The easy way to know whether the gears are in the front or back box is the auxillary gears will be air shift and synchronized anymore..
The mainbox gears are changed by moving the stick..
Whether its flipping a button or moving the stick you're still changing gears somewhere though..

So how many different positions are in the shift pattern of a Super10 including reverse?
I don't know but guessing there are 6 holes that the shifter will go in or else the front end of a Super10 has synchronizers and thats my final answer Regis.. :biggrin_2554:

The super 10 is nice except when its cold as a witch's you-know-what outside and they do not want to shift. My .02

Any transmission that uses air to shift can be problematic in extreme cold; at least, I could probably get a Super 10 going and not be stuck in low or high range like with a Straight 10. 17 MPH makes a trip very long. I have driven about anything but a Super 10.

I looked it up, only to find out that the shifter pattern and front gear box of a Super10 is the same style as any of the others..
So including reverse it has 6 gears in the front with the auxillary section arranged to split each gear individually, instead of just one time in a range shift where the gears need to be repeated by moving the stick..

Well, there you go kool359, you answered your own question. On a 13 speed, after you get through the bottom 4 (plunger down) you pull the plunger up and then split each gear, right? Now, I may be confusing you by calling the "switch" a plunger, which we called it back in the days, and mentioning the bottom 4 gears, when in reality there is 6 gears. But Granny gear and reverse are a given.

I didn't really ask a question there slick, what I was doing was questioning what had already been posted without being absolutely sure about it myself.. :argue:

Your first post is about a lame explanation of anything other than your abilities.. :smt017
So if you're trying to say I told you so with the post quoted above, and that you were actually on the same page all along, then no offense, but if you're going to bother with a reply about things like this, then why not write something that will make sense.. :smt021

The how and why of gear splitting on a thirteen speed, the bottom four gears back in the days, which may or may not have required the use of a plunger, really doesn't help when the question is "How many gears are in the main box of a Super10".. :spam2:

I'm as guilty as the next when it comes to BS, but there's alot of difference in BS and just plain old being a DA, and thats also a given..

I drove one for a while. They are nice, when they work. The problem with them is the 9/10 auto shift. TERRIBLE. Once you have it disabled, they are a pretty nice set up. They shift pretty #### tight though, so you gotta know where your gear is and when to hit it.

Is that the same as the "Top Two" that Werner was using?
