I was under a load of Postage Stamps once... the Receiver had more security requirements to drop the load than the USPS had to pick it up... lol

Probably statistically more likely to target a HVL within the first couple hundred miles. If someone is targeting a load from a HV Shipper no need to follow it far from its shipping point and after 200 miles you just blend in with the normal riff raff out here. And I’m sure someone feels safer with an extra rule on a piece of paper

The reasoning I was told is that the 200 miles is far enough that if a car follows you oil it from the pick up is that it will have to stop for gas.

First week back OTR over and done. Got back to the yard yesterday and decided to go home and take a 34. Nothing to make you feel like a total rookie than to have to argue with dispatch, rush everywhere AND get lost as all get out around ATL several times in 3 days. Add to that the first few night jitters about being gone from home, sleeping in the truck, etc... It all adds up to so much fun-NOT!!!!!
Thanks for all y’all’s help this past week. And for letting me vent some of my frustrations. Trust me, it was a lot more frustrating than I put on here, but I put on my big girl pants and got through it.
Already know (tentatively) that I’m headed to Oakland Park FL for a Thursday morning hill delivery. I hope this week goes a lot more smoothly than last week did.

Decided to play it safe and sat through the snow storm til this morning. Got up at 0400 and got fuel and it was so cold the def handle snapped on me. Heat wasn't blowing hot due to below zero temps too but I rolled figuring it would start working once temps got above zero and it did. Get out onto the interstate and try to accelerate and truck starts coughing and sputtering and wouldn't go above 50mph for a bit. Managed to get through the day with clear roads mostly thankfully and had my fuel filters swapped out thinking that was my issue. Will see come morning. Supposed to snow here in the morning but hoping it doesn't. If I can make it past flagstaff Ill be doing good and out of the snow. Thankfully this load has no appt time, just drop in Commerce CA when I can get there. Im ready for spring to come.....

Woke up to more snow in NM. I should have stayed in my parking spot as the interstate was horrible. NM didn't do a thing. I drove down the rumble strip on edge of the road to keep my bearing and to stay out of the way of the super truckers flying by at insane speeds down the middle of the road blowing their horns at me like Im the one on wrong side of the road. Almost got side swiped several times. Thankfully the snowstorm only lasted about 150 miles and AZ kept up with the plowing and salt/sanding so the roads were bare and wet there. Sitting at Love's in Williams,AZ waiting to get a marker light fixed and DOT inspection on my trailer. Call breakdown and Knight person kept asking me hundred questions.....no we do not do things the same as you and no we don't do any repairs on our own. Holy Cow, just set things up for me at the shop.

Amen! I am a driver, not a mechanic. No, I will not crawl under, over, around or whatever to try to fix a dang thing. I get paid to drive. Mechanics get paid to fix. Another thing I lurve about calling breakdown now is I always get the “we were all drivers and know how it should be done/fixed/whatever” BS. Yeah, then come here and fix it then.

Oh boy. I can just imagine my reaction to some desk jockey talking to me like that.
