Why is Kenworth using Paccar if their reputation is so bad?

I had a T660 with the Paccar engine ran it for 986,000 miles. Very few issues. Don’t idle for extended times, do the emissions service on time and overheads and other maintenance when required. Good engines. Not CAT or Cummins but a good engine

This will be my 3rd truck. The first was a (new) 2007 Freightliner Columbia with a Detroit 60 14L which was in-framed twice under warranty. 1st at little over 100,000 miles, 2nd at 420,000 then at 753,000 I had to replace block and head myself. The second was a used (445,000 miles) 2013 Cascadia with DD15 which had a night mare with emissions. At 850,000 had emissions problem and while Freightliner trying to duplicate problem the engine spun a bearing in shop yard going to park loaded trailer and in process found 1 box was bad also. I got rid of it.
Now I am looking at a 2016 579 Pete with a Paccar MX13 that has 432,000 miles, APU and purchasing a 3 yr/300,000 mile warranty on engine, power train and emissions. Trying to figure out if good or bad! Tired of Detroit and the problems I have encountered! I had APU's on both.
    Any thoughts??

And that's key. Emission systems require maintenance. I feel far too many underestimate that part.

I kept all maintenance up on all and repaired anything that came up. Maintenance was not the problem!

Aftermarket warranty's are garbage. Spend a little more and get something a little newer with a Pete factory warranty.
