I have a 2012 Peterbilt with a Cummins ISX 500. It sporaticly shuts off and and after a few minutes will restart and then this may continue for just a short time or long term.
We have checked batteries, and connections, replaced fuel filters, replaced fuel water seperator, replaced both fuel line from tank to seperator and line to electric pump. Replaced fuel shut off solenoid. Replaced ignition switch. Had dealer put on computer and found no faults that would make shut off.
Any suggestions for my money pit
    Thank you

Need to check voltage to pt switch (shut off solenoid). Should be battery voltage.

Need to check unswitched battery power (4 pin connector at ecm). Cummins recommends this power runs thru a 5 amp fuse directly from batteries. Assuming this is a cm871 because you said it has a fuel shut off solenoid.

Need to check keyswitch signal to ecm. Pin 39 at oem ecm connector. It also runs thru a fuse. Should have battery voltage.

My suggestion is to replicate issue in the shop and perform these checks if this unit just randomly acts like someone shuts off the key. If it stutters or slowly does, I would check fuel system. Good luck

The returns for the keyswitch are 45, 44, and 43. Check them as well. How these return are OEM dependant. Oem ecm connector is on right of ecm, if looking directly at. Even if wires show voltage i would load test.
