Grilling for Truckers!

I'm really curious about something that my Fiancé and I have tossed around in random discussions.

Being that we are part of a trucking family, her older brother is a truck driver and both him and their father are owners of Valkyrie Trucking. With all the issues that happened over 2020 with truck drivers not being able to eat or worse yet, handing out their hard earned money for ####ty, overpriced truckstop fare that isn't the greatest nutrition that drivers need to function safely and healthily.

We have tossed around the idea of buying a grill or some such cooking appliance with a couple propane tanks and other supplies and driving where truck drivers are and making them fresh food that isn't punishing their wallet or their belt. (Unless we do a bang up job and nobody could resist overeating of course!)

We would most likely have a couple spots or even a text line or something that tells you where the food truck would be at, scheduling wise. This way if you want to swing by a rest area or something, we could quickly run up to your truck door and hand you your food through the window and off you go to make that deadline without sacrificing much time. We may even make it a point to stop at DC's that are primarily Reefer loads so that drivers who are sitting can get a quality meal while waiting to be loaded or unloaded. The possibilities are endless!

My question; what would you drivers like to eat if we did something like this?

 

I understand the planning isn't the greatest yet, but I do know there would be licenses and permits that we would need to acquire and keep current. For instance, we would need state-related food truck/restaurant permits just to operate in each of the states we're in. And Federal licensing to cross state lines.

As for truck stops, we would run similar to door dash. We wouldn't be parked in the truck stop unless we needed fuel. State rest areas I don't see being a major issue as long as we had the licenses and permits to be at those rest areas. Privately owned rest areas would be a little more difficult, but not impossible. Then there would be the DC's that take their sweet ### time loading or unloading the trucks; those would be options as well, granted we acquire permission to do so beforehand.

I just was curious about what food the drivers would like to see offered?
