Abilene Motor Express....A New Place To Call Home

Got a call from my DM. I am getting paid to not drive. Apparently BH Groveport was shut down yesterday and today, and and BH is paying the layover for nine drivers in the Columbus, OH area to hang around until tomorrow when they get back to shipping stuff out again.

I am parked at that new gas station with truck parking a couple miles away, right across the street from the casino.

 

That's a fine little joint right there. I like their pizza, Hunt Bros., IIRC. Tastes like the cheap freezer trash I grew up on and I do say that affectionately.

I'll be sitting at this brand new Love's on 22 just east of the MS-AL line waiting for the latest icestorm to pass. Place ain't half bad, if ya don't count the three-inch plate of ice covering the lot.

 

Is that the one in Hamilton, Alabama?

I live very near that one. It’s much needed as it’s too far of a stretch between Jasper, Alabama and Tupelo, Ms. without any parking or fuel for us.

 

He was probably just taking a GPS shortcut.

 

Dropped my load in Commerce,CA then bobtailed to Colton. Planner needed a favor, deliver a local load to Riverside tomorrow at 0400. No problem, gives me an empty for my load going to Memphis so I can get my PM done, except when I hook to the load there was 4 sets of bills for four different places, CA, TX,CO and WA. Planner insists there is only the CA on there. I don't think so, original seal is still on the trailer and load feels heavier than the weight listed for the CA stop. Im thinking planner messed up somewhere....Im thinking Im going to be left in the dark til tomorrow when I try to deliver to Riverside. Can only hope the CA stop is in the back of the trailer cuz the bills aren't numbered or marked which stop is loaded where. My DM thinks planner is wrong about this load too. Hoping to hear back tonight but prob not.

Got a call during del to rescue this,driver sitting in front of me needs a tow in the morning.

Told him if his truck cuts off,just come knock on my door,and he can sleep in mine.

 

Since when does night time dispatch send load assignments? At 11:15 pm my Qualcomm goes off with a pick up for tomorrow. Says it’s a pick up for Sysco, but address shows a pallet recycling place. And it wakes me up when I need to be up at 2:30 to make my delivery. So, yeah, kinda irritating.
