    Good evening fellow comrades,
I was curious to know a few things about a local city job in Carlisle Pa driving for ABF
    1) Schedule
    2) Do you have to sign a contract to receive the sign on bonus?
    3) Pay
    4) would you recommend it to someone else?
I’m currently an intermodal driver but I can’t deal with the amount of incompetence at the company I work for. Management half ##### everything and says sorry bud. If someone could reply to this thread it would be greatly appreciated fellow comrades.

You will be at the bottom of the board, that means you get what's left, you will be paid for every minute you work, you will pay zero for health insurance, you will have a company paid pension (central Pa's fund is in good shape) and you will have work rules that don't change to fit the moment. ABF is probably the best ltl to work for. Like any other job it is what you make of it.

I can't add much to the conversation, just given that I was a linehaul driver out of the South Chicago location. So I don't know much about the city operation, and certainly don't know much about it in Carlisle, PA.

But ABF is a great company for the most part, and all the Carlisle drivers I met at the North Lima terminal seemed pretty happy.

If they have a healthy pension as the other responder said, it's a slam dunk. A great job to have.

And just on a personal note, if I had it all to do over again, I would have gone local rather than linehaul. I think they have the better deal overall.
