It will never live....those 8789 ain't gonna do nothing but make a bunch of heat and smoke. You know you have to change rods too right? Those pistons use a big wrist pin. The 4CK uses a small pin.

    80mm borg Warner in a 1.45 housing

You didn't mention what pump and advance you used.

Used 7E5888 from engine with fuel rack and govener from another pump i had with a bad cam a 9y3906, timming advance was mixed parts from the peec and some from the 3906 pump.

Ive had this engine working for a few years now since unpeec'd runs decent nothing to brag about, last week i tore the front apart to replace cam bearings and camshaft and updated lifter retainers. I have the time now to go ahead and inframe it was using some oil and had blowby. IPD makes the same both piston in steel for large and small pin bores.

It will work great with the 8789's and 14.6 steel topps. Your gonna want an 80/1:45. Set timing to 21@1000rpms start screw @1450 and 31-32° @1000rpms. May require a degree or 2 more to clean up any excessive smoke. Will run clean and make 700or so hp with rack maxxed mybe more if you put in a 4p-0998 18° cam in your fuel pump if you have a 7e-5888 dual scroll pump.

I would like to know what timing advance parts from a 7W3906 parts were used in the 7E5888 timing advance. I don’t think those are really interchangeable as the pump gear on the 5888 dwarfs the 3906. The spools are the same diameter and may interchange if you use weights and all. However the C mechanical advance is just a better all around stronger setup than a B. Now they may have put a B governor section on it. That will work.

my point here is it’s hard to give help if you don’t know what you have. I’m not ridiculing anyone. I’m only stating a fact of to know what advice to give I gotta know what your trying to work with.

the reason I say it will never live is it really needs meter timed and the right pump cam mentioned above. Very few have a timing meter, fewer than that understand how to use it.
I have never seen the IPD 2 piece steel tops live past 150 thousand or so. Not bad parts not a bad install but a driver will push them too hard. They feel there indestructible and they say it’s still pulling I’ve almost got the electronic motor beat why should I back out of it. Just facts.

I have seen the 8789 lay down good numbers at competitions. Then seen the 8785 go back in before the putting it back on the street. Power cost money how much you wanna spend? Going in half ####ed well your trucks gonna run half ####ed. One last time for those in the back timing is critical. It’s the most important part of that whole combination. Course what do I know, I’m just a beat down ol cow hand with a 1 bay shop way out in woods. My ol B runs everyday though.

So what happens to the ipd crowns?? All ive used is the cat 125-8869 crowns...they work great as long as timing is right. You definitely need to meter time it.

Is there a nozzle that EXACTLY matches that two piece piston for the b/c? I’m saying to run pump pin timed stock
