It may be temporary but afraid you are going to miss it the day you turn in your keys. I took a break and it only took about six months before I had to get back on the road. Happy and safe travels...

I do the same thing.
I follow the money until
I’m sick of the road. Then I go home until
I’m sick of that
Usually 3-4 weeks out which if I’m going by the house I will stop a day or two then 2-3 weeks homeRideandrepair Thanks this. -
OldeSkool, Rideandrepair and Jenn72 Thank this.

Been out here over 20 years.
Running a boring old dry van.
Coast to coast.
Seems like the older I get, the more I enjoy it.
Couldn't drag me from OTR.
Just to much peace and freedom.Dale thompson, Rideandrepair, TripleSix and 6 others Thank this. -
The one you are talking about is just as breathtaking for me too.Rideandrepair, Moosetek13 and dwells40 Thank this. -
Rideandrepair Thanks this.

It’s new 2021 but I did end up putting $$ down but still have a payment
I think maybe 4 years to payoff but by then or before I will have a different one I’m sure??
It’s not always about running you butt off to make it.
Just can’t grab cheap freight
I’ve been out west like Seattle area and been offered that $1.40 freight
I pass and they think I’m nuts. I say. I will DH all the way to Chicago before doing any favors
Also
You don’t always need to be loaded and heavy
Many think of the truck is empty that they’re not making money
I will DH all the way from Miami to say Seattle if there’s a $5 PM load there going to Miami
That’s $2.50 RT all miles and many don’t get that
As long as you loaded miles are paying enough and going further than your DH miles to make all miles come out over $2 then your usually in a good position
If I’m in Florida I usually run out empty to Atlanta if I can’t find good loads
Reason being is the cheap loads will take you all the way to Chicago therefore you pass all the better loads along the way -

Personal bank
I’m leased on as a contractor with a company so they find most of the loads
I will jump on the board if in a dead area just to see what’s available
I hVe helped a couple guys go from company to O/O
The only advice I can give is. If interested in that then start taking notes now like loads and expenses
If you know the rates the company would pay on the load then that’s a plus
You know fuel costs. You can figure maintenance. And so on
You should be able to get an idea how to make it work even if at a different company
Work it until you figure it out and the numbers start to make sense
Don’t do a lease thing period unless you find a good one but I’ve only heard of a couple and it has t been from a MegaTodd_Walker, OldeSkool, Just passing by and 1 other person Thank this. -
