I had a few good loads this last month but I'm out in S. Cali right now and HS/LTL is paying #### but I look at the van market and there are $9,5k loads cross country right now and there is a crap ton of them. Why are the high rates not tricking down to hotshot right now?

Lack of capacity should mean it starts to trickle down to us.. but it doesn't seem to be, at least not for long-distance loads. Any ideas? I still see brokers trying to push #### like 40ft "ltl" load from LA to TEX for $1,5k.. I saw another for like .70/mile and it was 40ft... There are some $2/mi loads popping up going north in Cali up to OR/WA but that's all I saw the last 2 days anything head east was crap.. So why are we not seeing the party that the big rigs are this time?

    That never happens.. not sustained..

There is a clear difference here.. right now

27 ft load going from S Cali to GA $2k (7,5k lbs)
21 ft load from S Cali to Mami, FL $1,458k..(10k lbs)
    21 ft S Cali to Wi $2k (17k lbs)
    40ft&53ft S Cali to TX $2k (16.5k lbs) (that 1,5k miles btw)

    Meanwhile van market..

The 1st page of 200 loads starts at
$9,5k S Cali to VA and one to NY @ 8k lbs & 30k lbs
The lowest on the 1st 200 loads was
    $4,8k S Cali to MS 3k lbs
page 2 still was holding $3k as the lowest for the next 200 postings

The best 2 Flat loads are $3,8k one to GA one to MI neither is even $2/mi at those rates because they are both over 2k miles. It's just insane that van is going that crazy and nothing is even trickling over to flat.

It's just kinda odd that the van market is this crazy (I didn't look at reefer) but Flatbed is total ####. I mean they still trying to pay less than $2 mile for full loads and crying if you ask for more. They aren't even trying to pay $1/mile on half loads and some of them have fairly tight delivery dates and they cry if you ask for more..

Perhaps the commodity you haul ain't are not in demand in the places you want to travel. I can totally imagine van/reefer freight being in demand farther east, after a vicious ice/storm.
