If you're looking for good independent truck stops

I have to add the Abbyland truck stop in Curtiss WI. I got one of their Homemade Coconut Creme Pies, oh man! I cannot begin to convey how delicious. I swear on my life it's the best pie I have ever had. Homemade graham cracker crust, just an amazing pie. I'm sure there are others here familiar with the place.

They have a truck repair facility and have like 20 different kinds of air ride seats there available to test out. A lot of other high end parts. They are really friendly too.

 

Abbyland is one of my favorites.

Stones truck stop on I29 in Watertown SD is another.

I absolutely agree. The wife and I stopped here on our way home from Maryland last week. The remodel from years ago is very nice, the restaurant has a good selection of food served hot and delicious, the staff are very friendly and you do not have to deal with the tourist crowd at the Petro 1 exit north.

We also stopped for the first time at the Pilot franchise in Emporia, Va. The Hermie and Elliot Sadler's Milestone Restaurant at this Pilot was a real surprise. It was very clean, the food was good, hot and the portions were large. It was a pleasure to find a sit down restaurant attached to a Pilot so the franchised stores are better than an owned store. The only observed problem is patrons at the buffet without masks or gloves. It could be a health problem.

 

You should try the FoSho restaurant next door to the pilot (same parking lot). Very clean and great food.
It’s also a sit down restaurant owned by Sadler bros.
Across the street is a Mexican restaurant that is also very good.

 

FoSho....is it soul food?
