You guys are rough. IT happens all the time. you just dont hear about it. The part about leaving the bed in the air. When doing highway work, its a constant circle. Load after load after load. Do that for 8 hours a day and your mind starts messing with you. You could start putting the bed down and then someone stops to talk to you or you get out to check something. At this point, you forget. Everyone is on the same channel on cb to direct each other and to just keep comms if the dumping pattern has changed or for just overall safety like this. When a truck forgets to raise lift axle on the job, another trucker will alert you. If you exit the dump zone with bed still in air, someone will alert you. All jobsites have a policy not to put bed down while moving. Dump the load, pull forward and stop and put the bed down. Unfortunately for this poor #######, he probably turned his cb down because he was on a phone call and forget to turn it back up. Im sure people were hollering for him to stop on the cb before he left out of the job. Does this guy deserve vehicular manslaughter charges for an honest accident like this ? ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! NOw, if he is found during the trial to be severally negligent than maybe. Myself nor anyone else has all the facts about the incident. There hasnt been a trial.

Is there any way to raise the bed from inside the cab?
I don’t know how the controls on a dump truck work but could their be a way to do it? -
LoneRanger Thanks this.
