I did not want to be one of the guys to talk bad about driving to New York.. however I must say it was very challenging for me , the whole day was swamped by traffic.. It took me forever to find the I95 ( my location was syosett NY) I even missed my turn.. yes I had to go all the way around just to get back on track.. rand McNally lost signal in traffic several times.. I eventually made it out I don’t think I will be there for a while.. unless there is a part that is not as bad.. I mean turns were super tight.. I felt I had no business there in a semi truck. Thankfully no one was hurt nor damage to the equipment.
I will like to know what part of New York is good to drive in ? What on the east coast should I absolutely avoid???
Thanks for any advice in advance.. drive safe everyone. FYI it took 8 hours for me to leave New York... also tolls were 160 each way

If you're not from there the whole Northeast is bad. New York City is the worst North Jersey is also a really bad but the Northeast was not built for tractor trailers. From Philadelphia to Boston none of it was made for tractor trailers.

But New York City is the epicenter of driving insanity.

That's why, when going into such places, you plan ahead, knowing turn by turn where you're going. Look it up on Google Earth, or Google maps. Look for landmarks at each turn.

I don't do the city anymore, but when I did, before I started the truck I knew exactly where I was going. I never blindly followed GPS, it can't keep up in cities

I quit NYC after 9/11. For a while it was a pain to get into it. But as far as driving in the downtown of the big city, I'll take NYC over Boston or Philly any day.

Never did Boston, been all around it from Peabody to Quincy, that was enough for me. Philly really don't bother me much. NYC is what it is, and you just make the best of it.

The place I truly hate? Baltimore/ DC area. I'd rather gouge my eyes out than go to that fustercluck.
