Well, I got 3 slightly used mattresses for sale if anybody is interested. I got most of the stains out, but they still have a slight smell of onion and urea.

D.Tibbitt, mjd4277 and Snailexpress Thank this.

I remember years ago a tanker driver hauling fuel swerved to avoid a mattress in the road and ended up turning over and exploding. Flames were so hot it melted the asphalt on the NJ turnpike. Never swerv to avoid debris if possible. Better to dmg the front/tires than to risk your life.

Here is Jerry Seinfeld's take on the idiot with the mattress tied to the roof of the car:

Was it the mattress that caused the fatal accident or was it the motorist that wasnt paying attention becuase was too busy doing something else in the vehicle and doesnt see cars swerving or the mattress and panicked last minute. Sure blame it on the mattress. Should probably blame it on surfing the internet and checking mail on the phone. All day long cars next to me playing on phone

It's a hard thing to get drilled into your head when you start driving tankers that you just do not swerve. Ever. Not for a mattress, not for a car, not for an animal or even for a human. Not unless you are wanting to sacrifice your life. Best thing for a tanker driver to do rather than swerve is to put that right foot on the floor and power through whatever it is.

That was driven into my head regularly by my father and his friends at a little company called Maccam Transport (later to be renamed Trimac).
I hung out there every chance I could until I got a job washing and jockeying trailers in the yard on weekends when I was 15.
Dad was head night mechanic and was buddies with most of the drivers out of head office terminal (until they moved head office to Calgary)

Now is not the time to step down and claim a lost mattress, I know that's for sure . Although I do love it when people get away with stupid #### that the law wants to give them a charge over . Like the trucker who ran over a homeless guy that was sleeping under his trailer tandems. Thank God he got away , if you're stupid enough to sleep under a semi you deserve to die.
