I always find this kind of thing very interesting to watch. It is pretty predictable that a lot of the political talking heads will feign their outrage on how Texas can be so reckless. But in the meantime many other states will also be loosening their restrictions and will hardly get noticed by the media, because they haven't gone as far as Texas. Texas just took the "go big or go home" option.

Mississippi also dropped the mask mandate.
As a Texas resident, who got his second covid shot yesterday, i think i will continue to wear a mask until the number of reported cases drops a bit more.

Our school system already sent out emails saying the kids are still forced to wear a mask until they get guidance from the CDC stating otherwise.

    F'n commies.

One of my closest friends here in Texas has been on a ventilator since January (through a tracheotomy incision after the second week). If she survives, she’s almost certain to be on supplemental oxygen for the rest of her life. Oh, and even with insurance, she’s going to have to declare bankruptcy. Otherwise healthy 40 year old woman, no pre-existing health conditions.

    Our governor is a fool.

Yes, because the whole state should shut down because one person is sick......

Only 44,000 covid deaths in Texas, governor has no horse in the race. Might as well fling it all open without mandates and see how it goes.

Only 44,000 dead? Whew, that’s a relief. I was afraid it was serious.
