As an actual Amazon employee that drives for Amazon. There will come a time that Amazon is going to phase out the third parties (we somehow know to select them) and Amazon is actually going to take over the short runs with our TOMY program. Honestly FedEx pays better too.

Appreciate the info. I'll get the experience while I can. Haven't heard anything from FedEx yet. Been about a week since my quick phone interview.

good luck, most of our loads are third party and most of those guys suck, but there are some few drivers that are good. You may see actual Amazon trucks on the road, but even a good chunk of them are third party. If you see a Amazon truck and it says "Amazon Transportation Services" or "Amazon Logistics" those are ours. If you do end up driving for an Amazon 3rd party and have any questions feel free to ask me. I am the guy that run all three (guard shack, hostler, and "TOMY" lanes)

For sure. The company that I just started has trucks with Amazon lettering but it's not actually Amazon. Not sure if that makes a difference from the regular o/o out there.

Just an update. Haven't heard anything from FedEx, however, I had an application in with XPO as a driver. I've been in contact with a recruiter and he says they have a night shift linehaul position available. Anyone have experience with them?

If you want to set yourself up for some nice paychecks and your pick of the route you want. Go with XPO for sure. You will probably start out on the extra board, do some dock work, and pick up a shift or two here and there. Stick with them for a few years, get some seniority, and you can see 90-100k annually. If you are a slacker.....probably not. If you are punctual, have a good attitude, and are willing to eat some #### now and then, Line haul is a pretty sweet gig. I am too old to get into that game, but, give it a shot. Good luck

Ask them how much driving you actually get to do on that run. Also ask how much dock work you’ll be doing.

Will do. That's right up my alley. I'm definitely going to do what needs to be done. They mentioned a 90 day training program to assist me with getting my manual restriction removed.

Most definitely. It will be an interview question. Most of the reviews I've seen are kinda 50/50 on dockwork and driving

Do you have a Saia near you? I’ve heard from a few friends they are the spot to go for LTL right now but I’ve never worked there

YRC Freight has openings in Kearny, New Jersey
    Teamsters union outfit.
Several drivers on this forum found jobs with YRC right out of school recently.
YRC has their own cdl school in Mercerville, so you should be good to go.
