yeah cause gettin’ that du’bm med card crap is stopid!!

who cares it’s just your livelihood. I might get 90 more days to put off the inevitable

and they don’t offer med cards for 90 days. If your cards up then get it renewed. I don’t understand the big deal unless you won’t get that med card and will lose your license anyway.

anyways do what you want. But at some point you WILL be getting that med card to keep that class A

I don’t know if this is relevant, probably not. But I got a letter from Oregon 2 months ago advising me that my HM endorsement was expiring soon, and that if I did not re-up it that my license would be terminated. Or, I could cancel my HM and they would issue me an updated license. Simple, right?
But, here is where the rub is-I tried calling DMV to tell them to just drop my HM, and could not get thru. Ever. So frustrating. And word on the street is they will not fail to cancel your license, in spite of playing the COVID excuse for lagging on all of their other administrative duties. My boss agreed to pay the $86.50 for my HM, so I simply kept my endorsement. So, it was easier to keep it then to deal with DMV, which is rediculous.
So, you can trust that the state won’t mess things up following their own extension policy. Or just go get a physical.

Oregon dmv is a mess. You can’t get through on the phone... can’t go in person without an appointment... can’t get an appointment that’s not out 6 months... I could however submit my new medical card online. And not worry about an extension or whatever. I won’t think about it again for 2 years. Because that’s easier than waiting on the phone for days trying to figure out why your license is not valid anymore. Because your med card expired.... but, but, I thought I had an extension.....

You don't call to cancel your HM.

You have to go in and get a new license.

I'm canceling mine when I renew. Next year.

Everything having to do with the DMV is backed up 60+ days just to get an appointment due to covid.
In February, I drove 65 miles to another county(130 miles round trip) just to get an appointment with the DMV. And I was lucky to get that.

I wouldn't put it off too long.

Oregon has licenses that are good for 20 yrs or something like that. And your endorsements are printed on it. So if you let your HM lapse, and the state knows when that happens, they want you to contact them for them to send you an updated license, or else for 15 more years youde have a license with the HM endorsement printed on it but not actually valid. Unfortunately, one can’t waltz into dmv and take care of that nowadays. But the irony (?) is that the one administrative function they can still perform well is cancel your license. Fortunately, the background clearance folks that the HM people use are private businesses and not govt employees. So they happily answered their phone and took my money to redo my clearance. Then they sent the dmv my new clearance and, cross your fingers, dmv will update my license in their system and the actual one in my wallet remains valid.
Did I mention cross your fingers? : )

Oregon gives out licenses that are valid for 8 years that’s the most I have ever got. But your right on the cancel your license immediately even though the next appointment they could actually schedule you on is 6 months down the road.

    Oops you’re right, it’s 8 yrs.
Snowy, the problem is that you can’t go in. And they don’t answer their phones. Or call you back. Online is the only way to get anything done, and even then everything is extremely delayed.
