I disagree. That is a quarter million dollars for 50 weeks. There would be biddings wars for guys wanting to grease hiring managers for those jobs. Kind of like it was in Vegas 15 years ago for guys wanting dealing jobs, but on steroids.

You know it sounds kind of counterintuitive, but anytime I run for a crappy rate, I get treated like crap and most times they want to abuse my equipment

Same with what I do it's 4-5 years though for the ones that come into market refrigeration with no previous family members having been in the trade. Normally they get out of school spend 2 years loving the 10-16 hour days, then they have enough experience to put them on call for overnight and weekend emergencies, that's when it turns for a lot of them. They get home after 14 hours on a hot roof, have a shower ready for dinner and the phone rings...freezer down 3 hours from the barn that can't be put off. That's when a lot start to wash out.

One of our drivers where you sn i work used to work at carolina cargo just a couple years back. Their teams at that time were splitting in the low 20 cent per mile range. Absolutely junk pay IMO.

This company is famous in the NC area. When I was in truck driving school at my local community college a couple of years back, all the students in my class all knew about this company.

I read on this forum that the company has changed, so maybe it's not the same anymore I don't know. But how the company was at least a few years ago was that this was one of the few companies that would hire ex felons or people who had been in and out of the criminal justice system. I suppose they also took people with bad driving records too. They basically took people who had no other choice but to try to find ANY company that would give them a chance, stick it out with said company for a year to get verified and proven experience and then hope that a better company would be willing to see past their misdemeanors/felonies and let them drive for them.

That's how they were (or maybe still are) able to pay what amounts to slave wages. At $0.20 per mile and 2500 miles per week that's $500 paycheck per week. 500/70 = $7.14 per hour with no overtime included, which is less than the lowest minimum wage ($7.25) in the entire country. And yes minimum wage in North Carolina is $7.25 per hour.

98 percent of truckers can’t throw their trash or piss bottles in the garbage, they certainly don’t need a raise.
