I wouldn’t waste my time with a 130k truck. I’d get one for 150 at least. Finance what you don’t have. It’s the only way to go.

I'd put 75 away and never touch it.
Buy a truck for 30-50. Get a loan for a trailer or run amazon freight like you said. You have to get your own authority you don't have enough experience. Insurance will probably be over 30k for your first year.

If you can't make it work with 75k this ain't for you. 75k is more than enough to get started.

    Oh boy!
You obviously did zero preplanning because if you had you would have known the route gps was showing was a lot further and then you could have emailed your company and get verification
I email any questions as then I have record
Had they said follow gps then you might have had better success on payment

    Abandoned truck
Does that go on record that brokers can see?
If so. Being owner op will not be to your liking. And no. These companies are not in on a big scam together with abandonment of a truck
They just don’t like drivers leaving their stuff all over the country
Problem free life being an O/O is also a fairytale
Especially if you go under your own authority
What are you going to do when you don’t get paid from a broker?
Or your gps takes you out of route? Those are all on your dime

I could go on and on but I’ve posted the same replies too many times to make it worth it

Good advice. When I turned 18 my parents and grandparents revealed to me that they had collectively saved $18,000 for me to go to college. Long story short I didn’t want to go to college and instead used that money as a down payment on an 85,000 starter home. I buckled down and paid that home off in 6 yrs and ended up using that asset as a means to start my trucking business.

Use this gift in as smart of a way as you can. It’s a hand up, don’t think of it as a hand out and end up wasting the opportunity. Be calm, patient, and smart.

130k invest in a multiunit property in a hot market and live in one unit . Take a local home daily job and I guarantee you will do a lot better financially .

Well, not to be a prick but wait until you face a customer who doesn’t give a crap about what you feel on the issue of respect, they tell you either to do it their way or ******* *******. Then that customer really raises hell about your attitude to the broker and the broker calls you to tell you he won’t ever deal with you and then screws with your settlement by only paying a part of it.

either you learn how to play the game with a thick skin or you find another means to make a living.

as for the truck and $150k, invest that into something you can get it out of fast because when the next real estate bursts, those with cash will have be able to buy up distressed properties for penny on the dollar.

I agree with real estate but as with trucking
Not everyone should be in that game either
I’ve always said 10% of the people run 90% of the world
And I think I’m pretty close on my numbers

    As for real estate
As you say. It’s a matter of time before the banks are going to want all these Covid loans to be paid and then we will see a massive foreclosure market
Many are hoping to go back to work but the reality is most won’t have a job to go back to
Banks have been working nor I assume they have with people in this situation but they won’t forever

Houses where I live are going for stupid money and fast
Ours has gone up a lot in the past year
Told my wife. We should sell. Rent. And buy low this fall or next spring

JoeyJunk, TheLoadOut and Radman Thank this.

Donate 130 to the charity of your choice and take the rest and buy a good tent and move to Nancy's district and live the good life.
