We currently have a 38x80 twin XL and it is wearing out and never fit well in the first place. I just measured and it looks like we can cram a 42” wide mattress in here. Most websites say 38 or 39” wide. I don’t get the discrepancy. I’m just wondering if any drivers out there have a 42 inch wide mattress in their Volvo 780. It seems like it would fit but I can’t be sure. The sizes available for the drift mattress and the sleep dog mattress are 39 inches wide and 42”. I am out here with my wife so every extra inch of bed space is precious. The prices for the sleep dog are about 500 and the drift mattress is about 600. Is one superior to the other?

I got this one and love it. I sleep in the top bunk though, I have no idea if it would fit the bottom bunk. I've never made my workstation in to a bunk.

Any twin XL will work, I got the 8" because I didn't want too little or too much. I think it's perfect. It's a fun time trying to get it up there though and not too easy to swap sheets but you're a trucker, you need to do some yoga on occasion.

I can't speak for the width, but my bunk measured about 34.5" wide & a 36" Sleepdog squeezed in the area..

Looks like they are on sale right now if that's the way you wanted to go. I got mine in Dec. '17, was like $500 shipped to the house. Back then they had 3 opinions of a 6, 8, or 10" thick. Now they are either a 7" or 9". I got the 36×80×8 that fit my application. The 8" is extremely comfortable, & seems durable. 3yrs in, no squished edge..

My only complaint is the gel layer turns into a brick at about 32°f, so just keep the bunk warmer than that so you don't wake up feeling like you are on a concrete slab!! Lol

I team w/ my hubby. We went to walmart and bought their 8" memory foam twin XL mattress for $130. It works great, going on 3 yrs.

I've heard that too but Amazon was closer when I got ready to get one.

We would of done Amazon too, but we were at a terminal that had Wallyworld right down the street.
