Hi guys
Still looking for a big cam 1 through 3 tractor to do regional flatbed work (~250 mi radius)
Just curious about other options... Can an old Mack R model or Superliner still be capable with modern loads? Would I have any issue scaling a 48k load on a 48 ft step deck with one of these old tractors? Maybe with an E6 engine...
I understand the camelback suspension is pretty stiff...Maybe it's worth the tradeoff to have a solid truck?
Bottom line, I'm looking for a good solid mechanical truck....big cam or E6.
If not, i'll settle for an N14.
Thanks.

What about a CH with E-7? Just about as tough as the old R and superliners.

I thought the e6 was the last fully mechanical. I'm looking at superliner for sale in Pennsylvania as well.
Daycab but the price is decent.

@MACK E-6 could probably shed some light on that topic...
There's plenty of old R models rolling around where I live, more tri axles than tractors though. I'm not sure what their tare would be though, considering they're not aluminum cabs. I'd second the CH or CL with an E7, they were pretty strong trucks for what they were and I'm sure you could pick one up for a decent priceNYCgorilla Thanks this. -
These were the two I was looking at.
1989 MACK R688 For Sale In Joliette, Quebec Canada | TruckPaper.com
1988 MACK SUPERLINER RW613 For Sale In Taylor, Pennsylvania | TruckPaper.com
I figure I can throw a headrack on either and make it work.
Thoughts? -
