I have a class A drivers license but I had to get it with no manual restriction. Automatic is all my company has. I want to drive part time a dump truck on the weekends and there big trucks are all manual. My understanding is I could drive their small pickup truck haulers but not their big ones. What is the process for removing the manual restriction ? Do I get a new permit and practice in the manual dumps ? Then road test ? Please advise.

You have to retest in a manual.

If a restriction you are trying to remove requires a driving test, yes, you are required to obtain a CLP.
As the manual restriction requires the driving test you will need to get your CLP. -
White Out. They'll never notice.

Has anybody ever heard of the restriction being enforced outside of a company hiring process? Let’s say a guy buys his own manual truck and becomes a local dumptruck driver with his own truck. Who enforces it? I’ve never once had a dot officer look at my shifter or how any transmission operates. They don’t check clutch peddles or adjustment. I’ve never had them look at license to see about transmission shifting skills. They only checked whether its an “A” or “B” and it matches the weight and type of vehicle.
Honest question that i’ve never heard an answer to. -

I had a few with auto restriction who applied for a job and when I ran the background check, a couple had tickets from that restriction.
