would pulling the trailer brakes but leaving the parking brakes pushed in bypass it. On the freight shakers i found that out by accident (webasto wouldnt work) and it idles just like you would be sitting in gridlock traffic.

    I really don't understand this.

Yes, there a far to many people idling there trucks when it is only 0 or -2 celcius outside, however, if they disable the idle with the cruise set at 1000 RPM or whatever, what are you suppose to do when it's -30?

Honestly, they don't even think, hey, our driver could literally freeze to death because he can't idle the truck in this -40C storm that's going on for the next 2 days, just more people who don't care about the OTR driver.

Drivers also never think about the companies either. Tons of companies are going down all the time cause not being able to pay the fuel or insurance. Companies just want to minimize costs. Alot of drivers don't care if the companies go down cause they figure they can just hop along to the next one and get a job there. Now im not saying its fine for the drivers to freeze all night but normally the trucks are equip with a espar or webasto bunk heater for sleeping so that the trucks don't need to idle at all.

I don't think its right to blame the companies for trying to save money and save their ##### from going down. Not as much money to be made in trucking as you might think if any at all.

if they want to save money, buy the trucks a webasto they cost what $900 at the very most?. this is so stupid the companies are pinching pennies so bad that they are costing dollars. But on the other hand a person can always get a gas generator for under $200 throw it on the cat walk and run a power cord in the truck with a heater or two.

Well If the companies expect u to make due with what u have and don't wanna put in a webasto then they are just f$#^$ theirselves. Driver comfort is part of costs of the business

I got it figured out. When the dash light starts to blink tap the brake pedal twice and it will run like a champ. Thanks to my fellow trucker from Dillards for the help on it. I only wanted to know how to keep it running when it gets super cold if it is 40 or above the truck is off. Thanks again for all the help. Keep her the middle and be safe.:biggrin_25525:

U are able to do this because the truck has the idle shutdown override on. If it wasn't u wouldn't be able to keep it going. U can also just hit the spike when the light starts to blink. Theres not special method. I find the spike easy and most convienent

When I was England, they had a Webasto in my truck. Too bad for me that it couldnt keep up in -3* F. I tried to idle the truck before I went to sleep but it wouldnt work. Woke up to the -3* a few hours later. The engine didn't seem to like starting with half gelled fuel.
